Tris(Hydroxymethyl) Phosphine Oxide (THPO)

Characteristic

Details

Chemical Formula

O=P(CH₂OH)₃

Molecular Weight

400-500

Physical Characteristics

Appears as a colorless or pale yellow liquid.

Primary Uses

1. Flame Retardant: THPO is an advanced reactive organic phosphorus flame retardant with high phosphorus content (≥20.8%). It features excellent hydrolysis resistance and active hydroxymethyl groups.

2. Polyether Polyols: Used as an initiator in the production of polyether polyols or as an additive in polyether polyols to react with MDI.

3. Polyurethane Foam: Enhances the flame retardant properties of polyurethane foam, increasing the oxygen index to over 30, achieving a UL94-V-0 flame retardant rating, and slowing the combustion heat release rate.

4. Applications: Ideal for use in rigid polyurethane foams in refrigerators, freezers, cold storage, building facades, and other applications where flame resistance and mechanical property stability are required. THPO can also serve as a synthetic intermediate due to its active methylol group.

Packaging and Storage

Packaged in 250 kg drums, sealed in plastic containers. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to maintain stability and effectiveness.
